First game jam ever

Hello there!

I thought I'd write a text about my experience within this game jam.

I've been thinking about boarding in a game jam for a while now, and then I saw that 7DRL was about making a rogue like (a genre I've been wanting to explore for a while) in 7 days (quite a fair amount of time for a first game jam). I decided I'd try it.

I had already worked on depth first search (for maze generation) and astar pathfinding algorithms, and on classes and interfaces for managing items and crafting, as well as agents in a turn based context, so I decided to add them to my game.

The two parts of the game that I'm the most proud of are the raycasting system (thanks coding train! you thought me a lot!) and the minimap (it was quite a hassle).

I used sprites from here and there, and made three songs for the game with a buddy of mine.

Overall, I'd say it was a pretty stressful but fun, experience, and I might consider doing it again some other time!

The game is not quite done yet, even though it has many features already. I'd like to add more crafting recipes and item, and I might add a "quest system" on top of it, as well as some other "narrative oriented" stuff, like statues and book pages. We'll see!
